Getting Involved at the Koa Gallery
The Koa Gallery couldn't operate wihout the help of students. We'd love your help! You gain valuable experience and insight inot what goes into running a gallery while enjoying a creative environment and the company of others.
As a volunteer, we'd love your help in the following ways. Please call to enquire how you can get involved at 734-9374.
Installation. Please join us in setting up and installing Exhibitions at the Koa Gallery. We will be moving and painting walls to prepare the space, moving art work, preparing pieces for hanging, hammering nails, etc.
Exhibition Openings. Please join us in setting up and working at the opening of an exhibition. We will be preparing food, making punch, setting out tables and chairs, and clean up.
Other Special Projects.
Working at the Gallery
Job openings are evaluated every semester. We encourage students to commit to working with us for at least 4 four sequential semesters, and occasionally students’ schedules or other circumstances make one or more spots available. We require you to work at least twice a week for a total of about 7-9 hours each week. Please call the gallery to inquire if there are job openings at 734-9374.
Gallery qualifications include:
Computer friendly -- working knowledge of Word, Excel, Photoshop, Illustrator. Mac based, and Dreamweaver or HTML a plus.
People friendly – comfortable answering the phone, greeting gallery visitors.
Art friendly – apply artistic skills to photography, design, and gallery installation.
Reliable – show up for work as scheduled.
Attentive to detail.
Willingness to do lifting, carrying, hanging, holding.Gallery work may include:
Setting up the Gallery for openings
Answering the phone
Running campus errands
Sweeping gallery floor and cleaning windows
Designing posters
Taking Photographs of the art
Downloading images from the camera and adjusting them in Photoshop
Assist with gallery maillings
Assist with creating labels for the gallery
Assist with emailing press releases
Assist with moving, loading and unloading art
Updating the website with current data
