Faculty Biennial 2010
January 13 - February 5, 2010
The Koa Art Gallery at Kapi‘olani Community College presents the first show of the new decade, the KCC Art Faculty Biennial 2010. Visual images from over twenty working and teaching artists are on display.
Works by painting instructors Carl Jennings, Russell Sunabe, Steven Niles and David Behlke include landscapes, political images and abstractions. Drawing instructor, Kloe Kang, presents an action drawing, a still life with geometric shapes, visually supporting “process oriented” work.
Works from those who teach three-dimensional techniques, Kaili Chun, Chuck Souza, Kauka deSilva, Kazuichi Kauinana; include classical ceramics, figurative sculpture and non-objective works.
Works from our two photography instructors, Shuzo Uemoto and Kapulani Landgraf, as well as work from out design instructors, Elizabeth Nakoa, Kimberly Chai, and Carol Sakihara, are included.
A variety of works, by KCC New Media Art instructors, Chris Gargiluo, Joseph Tremonti, Ailed Garcia, Sharon Sussman, David Goldberg, Emily Moody, Diana Jeon and Kirsten Rae Simonson, are surprisingly diverse. Works include animation, digital prints, mixed media and other photo-based works. The Koa Art Gallery brings cohesion to this diverse group of artists, with a show that will delight and surprise the viewer with each turn of the head.
